LILAC CROWNED AMAZON

Lilac-Crowned Amazons are small side, compared to other Amazon parrots, averaging 12 to 13.5 inches (30.5 – 34.5 cm) from head to the tip of the tail. They weigh about 11.3 oz (325g) curious and active birds by nature. Like all parrots,This species is a hardy chewer, so it’s critical that it have a variety soft wooden toys to play with, along with sturdy perches and foot toys. “The more toys the better” is a good motto for this curious bird. they need plenty of mental stimulation to keep them healthy and happy. These birds form strong bonds with their owners and must be provided with an adequate amount of daily social interaction to thrive.

Lilac-Crowned Amazons are a mostly a brilliant green color, with a red blaze on their forehead that leads to an iridescent lilac colored patch on the backs of their heads and necks. They have hints of red and blue in their flight feathers, and have horn colored beaks and flesh colored feet.

Lilac-crowned Amazons are considered good talkers; however, the quality isn’t considered as good as some of the other Amazon species. Some may never learn to talk at all. They are gentle birds with a quiet demeanor, which makes them a better pet than other more aggressive amazons.
