For the last couple of years, I have been struggling to find a home for my family. I have invested my sweat, tears, and countless hours to try to keep a roof over my head, and provide for my family, but everything has been in vain. It pains me to write this and to be vulnerable to the world but I am in need of ANY help at this point.
My family is my life! I am a father of three beautiful children and a husband to the most understanding wife. I had to leave my previous job as a truck driver, transporting all over the country, because it became impossible to see my family.
We made the decision to move to Gastonia a few years ago and I started working as a handyman. This made it possible to provide AND to be present in my childrens’ lives, allowing for me to be able to see them grow up instead of only seeing them once or twice a year.
I have worked tirelessly with different homeowners and their properties who have promised to help me obtain a home for my family… but these deals have not come to fruition.
Four home owners have taken advantage of my trusting nature. After putting in hard work to maintain and upgrade the house, they always go back on their promises. They promise to allow me to move into the house, possibly even getting to own it, in exchange for me upgrading and repairing the property with my own money, but they never follow through. But I still have faith in my dreams, even when they turn their back on me or take advantage of my situation.
The property where I currently rent has extensive water damage, and I have to work endlessly to repair it and to make ends meet. Sometimes I put in at least 14 hours a day, sometimes more, but I am mostly worried these conditions will put my children at risk of catching a cold, or worse.
Please help us so we can finally have a place to call “HOME”.
